How is this underline different from a formatting button?
A formatting button stores “underline” as a style property of the text. This tool appends U+0332 (COMBINING LOW LINE) after every character, making the underline part of the text itself — so it survives in plain-text fields where styles cannot exist.
Why are the lines broken under some letters?
The low line sits below each character box. Letters with descenders (g, y, p) push it lower, and some fonts leave small gaps between segments. Rendering depends entirely on the font doing the drawing.
Where can I paste underlined text?
Chat apps, social posts, usernames, file names and notes — anywhere plain text is accepted. HTML <u> tags and Markdown underscores will not carry over, but these characters will.
Can I underline spaces between words?
Yes, spaces are underlined too, which connects the segments into one continuous rule. If you want word gaps, remove the marks under the spaces after pasting.
How do I remove the underline afterwards?
Strip the U+0332 characters — paste the text into any editor that supports find-and-replace with regex and delete \u0332, or retype the text. The marks are ordinary characters, not metadata.
