Why doesn’t this emoji look the same on other devices?
Emoji are Unicode characters; each platform draws them with its own font (Apple, Google, Microsoft and others all have distinct art styles). The character itself is identical everywhere — only the artwork differs.
Why do some emoji show as separate symbols on old systems?
Sequences built from several code points — such as skin tones, flags made of regional indicators, or family and couple emoji — need a recent emoji font. Very old apps may render their parts separately, so prefer the plain character when compatibility matters.
