Frequently asked questions
Does resizing upload my image anywhere?
No. The pixels are resampled by JavaScript running in your tab and written to a local canvas. Files never leave your browser — close the tab and nothing remains.
What resampling method do you use?
Nearest-neighbor: every output pixel copies the color of the source pixel it maps to. It keeps hard edges crisp (great for pixel art) and is fully predictable; for photographs, downscaling gives a slightly rougher look than a browser-native smooth scale.
How does the aspect ratio lock work?
With the lock on, typing a width recomputes the height from the original ratio (and vice versa), so the picture never stretches. Turn the lock off to set both values freely — the result will be stretched to match.
What is the percentage mode for?
Quick proportional scaling: 50% halves both sides, 200% doubles them. It is handy when you only care about "about half the size" and do not want to compute pixel numbers.
Is there a size limit?
The tool clamps output dimensions to 1–8192 pixels per side. Very large upscales of small images will look blocky — that is a property of pixels, not a bug.
