Frequently asked questions

What does this tool actually show?

A life odometer: how many days you have lived, how many a simple average-based estimate leaves, and what percentage of that estimated span has passed. It is arithmetic on two dates — nothing more ominous than that.

Where does the estimate come from?

From the life-expectancy number you enter (80 by default). It is a population average, not a personal prediction — real lifespans vary enormously with health, luck and place. Treat the output as a nudge to notice time, not as a countdown you believe.

Why is this framed so lightly?

Because the point of memento-mori tools is to make days feel valuable, not scary. There is deliberately nothing morbid on this page — just a progress bar, a number of days, and a nudge to spend them well.

What happens for someone past the estimate?

The bar caps at 100% and the copy flips to bonus-lap mode — because beating a statistical average is worth celebrating, not graphing downward.

Is my birthday sent anywhere?

No. The dates never leave your browser tab, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
