Hash Avatar Generator
Every string has a face: paste a name, email or nickname and get its matching symmetric identicon — instantly, locally, and always identical.
How to use
- Type any string — a name, nickname or phrase.
- The 5×5 symmetric avatar updates live.
- Copy the SVG source to use it anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How is the avatar generated?
Your text is hashed with FNV-1a (a compact 32-bit hash), and that number seeds a small random sequence that decides the color and which cells of the grid are filled. The right half mirrors the left, the classic identicon trick that makes the shape readable as a “face”.
Is the same input guaranteed to give the same avatar?
Yes — hashing is deterministic. Type the same string tomorrow, on another device, in another browser, and you get the identical image. That is why hash avatars work well as stable chat or forum identities.
Where is my input stored?
Nowhere. The hashing and drawing happen in your browser tab; nothing is uploaded, logged or saved. The tool even works offline once the page is loaded.
Is FNV-1a cryptographically secure?
No — and it does not need to be here. The hash only needs to spread similar strings into very different patterns. It is not a password hash and should not be used for security purposes.
Can I use the avatar elsewhere?
Yes — Copy SVG puts the raw vector markup on your clipboard, which you can paste into any design tool or save as an .svg file. SVG scales to any size without blur.
