Frequently asked questions
Does Find & Replace support regular expressions?
Yes — tick “Regex mode” and the Find field is interpreted as a JavaScript regular expression, with the g flag always on. Patterns like \d+, [A-Z]{3} or (cat|dog)s all work. Untick it and your search is matched literally.
How is case sensitivity handled?
By default matching ignores case, so “hello” finds “HELLO”. Tick “Case sensitive” to require exact case. In regex mode the same toggle controls the i flag.
What does the replacement counter show?
It reports how many matches were replaced in total. Zero means nothing matched; if your regex is invalid the box shows the exact parser error instead of silently doing nothing.
Are there match limits like “replace first only”?
This tool always replaces every match — for “first occurrence only”, wrap your pattern to anchor it, or run it repeatedly. A visible count makes bulk replacement easy to sanity-check.
Is my text safe here?
Completely. The replacement runs in your browser with plain string operations — nothing is uploaded, stored or logged, and closing the tab erases everything.
