How do I pick a color from my image?
Drop the image in, then click any point on the canvas. The tool reads the exact pixel under your cursor and shows it as HEX, RGB and HSL at once — no guessing from screenshots or external editors.
What is the 3×3 average toggle for?
Photos and compressed images have noise: neighboring pixels of the "same" area can differ. The average mode blends the 3×3 block around your click (weighted by transparency) so you sample the area, not one noisy pixel.
What happens on transparent pixels?
Fully transparent pixels have no visible color, so the tool reports that honestly instead of inventing a value. In average mode, transparent neighbors are simply excluded from the blend.
Which format should I copy?
Whichever you need — each of the three value boxes (HEX, RGB, HSL) has its own Copy button right below it. HEX (#1a2b3c) for CSS, design tools and most web work; rgb() when you need to add alpha separately; HSL when you want to tweak hue, saturation or lightness intuitively. All three describe the same color.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The picture is decoded and sampled entirely in your browser tab — nothing is sent to any server.
